A FEW WORDS OF WELCOME

There is no task more meaningful than the protection of nation's heritage and the transfer of that legacy to a next generation. A nation's identity is mirrored in that legacy which if erased or diminished undermines a people's own self-pride.

Much is at risk in Romania. Inadequate resources, corrosive policies of the communist era, and the quickening pace of modern life are inimical to the careful nurturing of the nation's fragile heritage.

By rescuing, restoring and conserving endangered buildings, lands and environments of cultural interest and historic significance, Pro Patrimonio will contribute to the present and future well-being of Romanian society.

A primary objective of any single Pro Patrimonio project is to stimulate a productive role for traditional crafts and skills, to invite community pride in its heritage, to offer a memorable cultural experience for visitors, and to stimulate economic development.
