The Restoration of Golescu House and Historic Garden in Campulung is a project implemented with the support of Pro Patrimonio Great Britain, Pro Patrimonio France, LAFARGE ROMCIM and UNESCO. The restoration of the house (the main building and the annex) and a beautiful garden, a dendrological park, designed and created by its first owner, Nicolae Golescu, who was a land engineer.

Pro Patrimonio started the restaoration works in September 2003, arch. Adrian Cosa, in collaboration with Pro Patrimonio France and the School of Architecture in Bucharest. The garden restoration project has already been designed by a French landscape architect.

In May 2004, Pro Patrimonio Romania in cooperation with Pro Patrimonio France and the University of Architecture “Ion Mincu” in Bucharest finalized the project financed by UNESCO with a grand of 8,000 Euro.

Infrastructure works have been contracted and following operations had been finalized, or are under way:

	the fence of the property was completed
	the drainage system of the house and garden was accomplished, as well as the connection with the city drain system
	the heating system of the house was installed, as well as the connection with the gas supplying system
	the restoration of the canton house is in progress

In 2004, the total investment in the restoration works was of Euro 27,150.
The Golescu Manour House will have the following destinations:

Educational projects for the local population: information on the value of the natural and built heritage of the city of Campulung and the surrounding area; basic rules and regulations for heritage preservation and protection; awareness raising of the dangers run by their local heritage, if not valued and protected – all these in co-operation with the local branch of Pro Patrimonio, the local authorities and the schools in the area.

A computerized database of the heritage of the city and surrounding area – natural, built and handicrafts, in order to develop small workshops and businesses related to tourism and local development.
