THIMOS

Thimos” (the Greek word for "enthusiasm") is a long-term educational program. Its objective is to prepare young people to work in Pro Patrimonio heritage preservation programs and, more generally, to educate the younger generation to heritage preservation issues.

The program started in 2004 with a pilot sessions to train Pro Patrimonio volunteers to management issues and techniques of heritage preservation projects. Eight young people participated in this first pilot training session.

The program will train people with expertise in heritage preservation issues by

  • creating new opportunities for volunteers to get involved in Pro Patrimonio work;
  • the organization of a summer schools for students;
  • setting up educational projects in schools to educate the younger generation on the natural and built heritage;
  • the creation of basic rules and regulations for the preservation and protectionof the heritage;
  • organizing field-trips and work-camps for increasing young people's awareness in heritage preservation issues.
