| The Pro Patrimonio Foundation is a non-government organization based in Bucharest, Romania whose mission is to identify, preserve, and advocate for the historic and natural heritage of Romania. It aims to restore, rescue and revitalize endangered buildings and sites for the benefit of future generations. In addition to its restoration mission, the Foundation also aims at integrating the buildings it restores in the economic and social fabric of the country and the local communities by
Pro Patrimonio's activities are supported by a network of associated, legally independent, organizations in several countries : The Patrimonio Foundation was established on 10 March 2000 by architect Sherban Cantacuzino, CBE, FSA, D. Univ. (York), FRIBA, and has its headquarters in Bucharest and is placed under the high patronage of H.M. King Michael I of Romania. The Foundation owns property in Campulung-Muscel (the Golescu Villa) and in the Viscri Village (an 18th century village house). Since 2003, Pro Patimonio is a member of Europa Nostra, a European federation of organizations that maintain and promote the conservation of natural and built heritage. |
